BARÇELONA 2 – 2 ATLÉTICO MADRID This biggest clash of Matchday 33 came with many expectations: Messi was in search for his 700th career goal, Barça needed a win to keep immense pressure on Madrid while Simeone was looking for his first LaLiga Win against Barça. Barça dictated the pace of the game in their usual possessive tiki taka fashion and were rewarded after a Messi corner was turned in by Diego Costa into his own net. Five minutes later, Yannick Carrasco draws a foul in the penalty area, Costa stepped forward but lost the kick. A VAR decision requested a retake because Ter Stegen over stepped his line. Saúl converted the PK and it was game on.

Messi came close with a powerful curling shot in the 22nd minute but the upright bar saved Oblak’s blushes. Four minutes into the second half, Felipe gave away the second penalty of the game for a foul on Semendo and Messi cheekily slotted home a paneka for his 700th career goal. Carasco once more pulled the third penalty of the game after Semendo brushed his leg while making a dashing run into the box. Saúl made no mistakes in slotting in a powerful low shot to the bottom right corner. Due Credits must be given to Riqui Puig who brilliantly orchestrated the midfield for Barça excellently without any hassle or freight. Thomas Lemar fluffed a 90th minute clear chance to secure Simeone’s first win in 16 LaLigaSantender attempt against Barca. Barca remains second on the log and the woes and days of Setién are numbered
